OUR MASTER MINDS COME TOGETHER TO GIVE BACK
THE BACKGROUND STORY:"I met a man a few weeks ago on my way to JHB. His name is Ishmael. He was hitchhiking on his way to Klerksdorp. I picked him up at 7 PM – he had been standing there trying to get a lift from 3 PM already. He is a black man aged about 50 years old – what really struck me is that he looked like he was on his way to church – dressed in his best clothes. He told me that he works one day a week at the local SPAR. That one day gives him enough money to feed his wife and two daughters. This morning when he got to the SPAR, they told him they did not have enough work for him. Luckily he was dressed in the only decent clothes he had, so he spent the rest of the day walking from shop to shop asking for a days work. By 3 PM, the only thing he had left to do, was to try and get to his uncle in Klerksdorp who will give him money to buy food. He refuses to go back home unless he has food for the family, as they already have no food just for today. He offered to give me his cell phone if I would just help him pay for a Taxi to Klerksdorp, so that he could get back to his family tomorrow instead of 3 – 4 days if he had to try and hitchhike.  While we were driving he shared his story with me. He owned a business for the last few years repairing shoes. This he did from a little shop in Randburg. Last year, after he was done with work, walking on his way to the Taxi rank, two men attacked him, stuck him in the lung with a knife and stole all his tools he uses for his business. He showed me the scar which still looked quiet fresh. He was in hospital until October, and is now back home. But without tools, he cannot work and has lost his source of income. He told me that the income from that business paid for his daughters schooling, all their food and other expenses. He is desperately trying to find some kind of work where he can make the money to buy some new tools and start up his business again. When I asked him how much money he needed I was shocked. All he needs is R700!! R700 to change his life around again. I took his number after giving him money for the Taxi to get to his uncle and then I thought about it. A wonderful thought entered my mind. Yes, I can pay the R700 and help him start his business and life up again – it is such a small price. But I think something so much more powerful can come from this. That is when I started thinking about what is missing for my part from the mastermind’s. What if we could all a worthy cause like this that we come across out of the blue? So, out of such small, seemingly random events great ideas can be born. I ask you to give something back. Trust me when I assure you, that nothing you give will go unrewarded. The Universe always pays back! Please help me with the project to get Ishmeal back on his feet and please let me know if you will be willing to support the Mastermind gives back project. Remember we can all nominate causes, and you do not know when it is going to be your turn to run into an Ishmael" -Stanley Beckett GETTING THE MASTER MINDS TO COME TOGETHER AND GIVE BACK Stanley sent out an invitation to every person who has ever attended one of our Master Mind group and received an overwhelming response from people wanting to contribute to this cause. Everyone gave a R100 donation and Stanley could pick Ishmael up and go on a shopping spree to fund his new business and sponsor some money for him for food for the week. Ishmael also approached his church to assist him with one final piece of equipment that we did not have enough money to buy. His church agreed to also support him in his new endevour.
